Cold Therapy | For Engorgement and Tender Breasts

Cooling therapy can help soothe swollen, tender breasts, particularly when your milk first comes in.

  1. Place the gel packs in the fridge or freezer for 30 to 60 minutes.

  2. Insert into the supplied fabric covers.

  3. Apply to your breasts for 10 to 15 minutes at a time.

  4. Repeat as needed, allowing your skin to return to its normal temperature between applications.

Cleaning & Care

Wipe the gel packs clean with mild soap and water and dry thoroughly before storing.

Inspect before each use and discontinue immediately if the pack becomes damaged, punctured or begins leaking.

Always use the supplied fabric covers, check the temperature before application and never apply directly to broken or damaged skin. Do not use while sleeping or if you have reduced sensitivity to heat or cold.

If you experience persistent pain, increasing redness, fever or flu like symptoms, seek advice from your healthcare provider.

A Little Note From Jess, IBCLC

One of the biggest surprises for many new mums is just how full and uncomfortable their breasts can feel when their milk first comes in!

And here's something I always love to explain: engorgement isn't just about having too much milk.

In those early postpartum days, increased blood flow, tissue fluid and swelling can all contribute to that heavy, tight and tender feeling.

Cold therapy can be particularly helpful for managing swelling and discomfort between feeds. Gentle warmth immediately before feeding may help with letdown, but prolonged or excessive heat can worsen swelling, so keep it brief.

And remember, if your breasts are feeling uncomfortably full, the goal isn't necessarily to pump them empty. Frequent, responsive feeding and expressing just enough for comfort when needed can help your body gradually regulate milk production.

Your breastfeeding journey deserves support, comfort and a little extra care.
